Hello! The Thunderbird District's 2017 Awards Dinner is soon approaching.

Show your Scout Spirit and join us for an evening of food, folks, and fun -- including a delicious pasta dinner and fabulous raffle prizes. Let’s gather to recognize the efforts of the adult and youth leaders who help support Scouting in the Thunderbird District!
Please be sure to nominate the volunteers in your pack, troop, crew, or district that you think qualify and should be recognized for their cheerful service. If you’re not sure whether someone qualifies, nominate them anyway, and the district committee will decide.
Unit Leader Award of Merit
Please have your committee chair or unit commissioner send nominations to the district committee chair, Tom Cox, tom@coxfamily.com.
Requirements include:
The nominee must
1. Be a currently registered Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Coach, Advisor, or Skipper who has served in that position at least 18 continuous months.
2. Meet the training requirements for the registered position.
3. Distribute a printed or electronic annual unit program plan and calendar to each family in the unit.
4. Have a leader succession plan in place.
5. Effectively use the advancement method so that at least 60 percent of the unit’s youth have advanced at least once during the last 12 months.
6. Cultivate a positive relationship with the chartered organization.
7. Project a positive image of Scouting in the community

Extra Mile Award
Every unit in Thunderbird District can nominate up to two recipients—unit leaders, volunteers, or parents—to be recognized for their service to their unit in 2016. Try to recognize someone who doesn’t usually get the limelight—the unsung heroes—the people who go the Extra Mile. Discuss among your unit leadership and committee and send your nomination to Heath Row, kalel@well.com. Every unit can recognize up to two people whose service to the unit was above and beyond in 2016. When nominating someone, be sure to explain why you think they deserve the Extra Mile! This award can only be presented to a person once every three years (i.e. you can’t earn it every year).
Scouter’s Spouse Award
Please send your nominations—who they are and why they qualify—to Heath Row, kalel@well.com. This award recognizes husbands and wives whose devoted support of their spouse’s Scouting has made possible their service to youth.
